Track Sleep on iPhone & Apple Watch

The Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad can automatically track sleep with minimal setup – specifically enabling the Sleep Focus mode and setting up a sleep schedule in the Health app, Follow these steps to complete the setup.

Set up Sleep Schedule:

  • Open the Health app on your iPhone.
  • Tap on Sleep and then Get Started or Edit your existing schedule. 
  • Define your desired bedtime and wake-up times, and set up an alarm if desired. 
  • Enable the Use Schedule for Sleep Focus option.

Enable Sleep Focus:

  • Go to Control Center (swipe down from the top right of your watch face). 
  • Tap the moon-shaped icon (Sleep Focus) and select Sleep
  • Ensure the Schedule button is enabled to automatically activate Sleep Focus at your set bedtime.

Track Sleep with Apple Watch:

  • Ensure Track Sleep with Apple Watch is enabled in the Sleep settings within the Watch app on your iPhone. 
  • Make sure the watch is worn snugly but comfortably on your wrist for accurate tracking.

View Sleep Data

  • After tracking your sleep, you can view your sleep history, including sleep stages, in the Health app on your iPhone or iPad. 
  • You can also see your sleep data directly on your Apple Watch by opening the Sleep app.
