Sharing a webpage via email is simple with Safari’s Share feature. You can send just a link, the full webpage, a PDF, or a clean Reader view version—perfect for articles, tickets, or reference pages. This guide walks you through all the steps.
Add the Share Button to Safari Toolbar (if missing)
If you don’t see the Share button in your Safari toolbar, you’ll need to add it first. It looks like a square with an upward-pointing arrow. Clicking it gives you access to all the sharing options, including sending a webpage via Mail.
- Open Safari.
- In the affair menu bar select View.
- Select Customize Toolbar…
- Locate the Share button (square with an upward arrow) in the panel.
- Drag it to your Safari toolbar and click Done.
Share a Webpage via Mail
Once the Share button is in place, you can easily send webpages via Mail. Safari gives you flexible options for sending the content exactly how you want it.
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Click the Share button in the toolbar.
- Select Email This Page or Email Link to This Page.
- In the Mail compose window, use “Send web content as” to choose:
- Link: sends only link to the webpage.
- Webpage: sends the full webpage content.
- PDF: sends a PDF version of the page.
- Reader: sends a simplified, ad-free version.
- Address your email and send.
Tip: If the webpage supports Reader view, enable it first to create a clean, distraction-free version. Click Website Controls button (a square above two horizontal lines), on the right side of the Safari address bar an click the Show Reader button.
Why “Reader” May Be Greyed Out
Sometimes the Reader option is unavailable. Understanding why can help you choose the best alternative for sharing the content.
- The page does not support Reader view (common for pages with mainly images, forms, or complex layouts).
- You haven’t enabled Reader view on that page first.
- Some sites disable Reader mode intentionally for copyright or layout reasons.
Quick Alternative
If you prefer a simple method, you can always share the webpage link directly.
- Click the webpage link in the Safari address bar to highlight it.
- Copy the webpage link (Command+C) from Safari’s address bar.
- Paste it (Command+V) into a new Mail message.
Tony. I don’t see the icon!!
The Mail stamp just left of the URL.
